Amey TPT | 21 April 2026
South Western Railway and Amey PCI are pleased to welcome Sainsbury’s to Kingston Station, with the retailer now open following the successful reconfiguration of four former retail units into a single, purpose-built premises.
The new store has been designed to meet Sainsbury’s operational requirements while enhancing the retail offer within the station, providing a modern and convenient shopping experience for customers on the move.

This opening marks Sainsbury’s second location on the South Western Railway estate, following the launch of its first station store at Surbiton. The Kingston opening further strengthens the partnership and reflects the continued investment in improving station environments and services for passengers.

Eva Puchowska, pictured at the opening, said:
“It’s great to see Sainsbury’s open at Kingston Station following the successful transformation of several units into a single, high-quality store. This new addition significantly enhances the convenience offer for our customers and supports our wider ambition to create welcoming, well-used station spaces for the communities they serve. We hope to be in a position very soon to announce a further new opening at Retail Unit 2 following works by Network Rail to repair the roof”
South Western Railway and Amey PCI hopes that rail customers, local residents and visitors to Kingston alike enjoy the new store and the added convenience it brings to the station.
