The UK’s leading smart locker provider, InPost, continue their expansion of new lockers across the South Western Rail estate.  The first phase of the roll-out is complete providing customers with new facilities at 26 locations, with further sites recently approved and 52 further stations under survey.

Stations at the heart of the communities they serve are well placed for these lockers.  Accessible 24/7, installing the lockers at rail stations means that even during the government’s Covid-19 lockdown, customers are able to receive and return their online shopping and send parcels contact-free at a time that suits them.   During this challenging time, this further strengthens the station’s role as the hub of the community.

Gavin Brice Locations Director for InPost said “This latest milestone is part of our ongoing focus on the expansion of our smart locker network across the UK’s major conurbations. Partnering with a major rail operator like SWR will importantly allow passengers and local residents to collect and return online shopping as part of their usual daily journey. The roll out of smart lockers will reduce last mile deliveries in the UK, reducing  emissions and congestion  – this is especially timely as the UK  is gearing up to gradually reopen in the coming months.”
