Passengers travelling through Wimbledon Station have a new reason to pause and recharge, as Nineteen38 Coffee, a café operated by  Royal Voluntary Service (RVS), has officially opened its doors.
Conveniently located on the station overbridge, Nineteen38 Coffee offers grab and go coffee, other hot and cold drinks, baguettes, morning pastries and a range of snacks to visitors. Designed to complement the fast pace of modern travel, the outlet provides high-quality refreshments for those on the move.
The café’s name, Nineteen38 Coffee, pays tribute to the founding year of Royal Voluntary Service, reflecting the organisation’s long-standing commitment to supporting communities across Britain. This new opening continues that legacy, bringing a socially driven retail offer to one of South West London’s busiest transport hubs.
The arrival of Nineteen38 Coffee forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance the customer experience at Wimbledon Station by introducing a diverse mix of retail and community-led operators. By blending convenience, quality and purpose, the new café adds further vibrancy to the station environment and contributes to making stations more than just places to travel through.
Rebecca Herridge, Business Development Lead at Royal Voluntary Service, said:
“We’re delighted to bring Nineteen38 Coffee to Wimbledon Station and to introduce our café concept to such a busy and well-connected location. The name reflects our heritage, and this new opening allows us to continue supporting communities while offering great value refreshments to passengers. We’re excited to welcome customers and become part of the daily journey for so many people passing through the station.”
Founded in 1938, Royal Voluntary Service mobilises volunteers to build a stronger, better-connected Britain. The charity’s goal is volunteering for all, ensuring volunteering is the norm for everyone, in every part of Britain, throughout their life. Profits from its shops and cafes help to fund the volunteer powered services the charity runs in hospitals and communities.
