Teaming up with supplier Ape20, South Western Railway Customers are able to replenish their reusable water bottles free of charge.   South Western Railway (SWR) and Ape20 have been working together since 2018 when Ape20 installed the first water replenishing machine on the SWR estate at Hampton Court.  The operator now has machines at Kingston, Richmond, Twickenham, Wimbledon, Bournemouth, Vauxhall and Putney with a new machine being installed in Basingstoke today.

Ape20 started their work with the mission to rid the world of single use plastic water bottles.   The operator encourages customers to refill their own bottles at the stations.  Their machines have an advanced 3 stage filtration.  Ultra-violet lamps clean and sterilise the water, removing any impurities down to the molecular level.

Earth Day is now in its 54th year.   The first Earth Day was held in 1970 to encourage the reduction of use of plastics.   Committed to end plastics for the sake of human and planetary health the group is demanding a 60% reduction in the production of ALL plastics by 2040.
