Case Study Background
Following the closure of Oxenholme’s village Post Office local MP Tim Farron approached Avanti, asking them to host an outreach service at Oxenholme Station for the benefit of the local community.
Avanti requested Amey TPT to assist them in facilitating the request and documenting the arrangements.

Our Input and Deliverables
Amey TPT worked with Avanti’s station team and the postmaster to identify the best location from which to deliver a safe and accessible Post Office counter service at the station.
The arrangement was documented by way of a simple licence.
The outreach Post Office operates two days a week, providing mail services, community banking, bill payment, passport and car tax applications and other services to the local community who would otherwise have to make the journey to the Post Office in Kendal.
“After two and a half years of working with Avanti West Coast and local councillors, I’m delighted that we have finally secured a new post office for Oxenholme. This is a key local service so it’s great news that it’s now open in a prime location.”
Tim Farron MP – Member for Westmorland and Lonsdale
“We want to make a difference in the communities we serve and support causes that matter most to them, which is why we’re proud to be hosting a pop-up Post Office for the village of Oxenholme.”
