New Centenary Lounge Café celebrates the Golden Age of travel at Taunton Station
Amey TPT | 10 December 2024
GWR’s Taunton Station has celebrated the opening of Centenary Lounge’s newest café this December, bringing together stakeholders, dignitaries, colleagues and customers for a festive opening event complete with a 1930’s band, speeches and networking.
Formerly vacant retail premises on Platform 2 have been comprehensively refitted throughout, cleverly transformed by Centenary Lounge’s team into a warm, welcoming and stylish café venue inspired by the elegant 1930’s Art Deco railway cafes of old.
For passengers on the move, a platform side ‘express’ offer includes artisan coffees & teas, fresh pastries and quality snacks all designed for grab and go convenience. Additionally, Centenary Lounge offers destination dining, having roadside access adjacent to GWR Taunton’s main station entrance and the option of both internal and external tables and chairs. Diners will be offered a menu of brunch, light lunch and afternoon tea plus a fully stocked bar offering decadent cocktails.
Centenary Lounge’s founder, Aasia Baig commented “Our new Taunton café is in a fantastic location, overlooking the plaza and square with views across to the Great Western Hotel. We want to become a destination not only for customers passing through the station but also for the local community”
Amey TPT have worked closely with Aasia and the Centenary Lounge team over the years, having supported the opening of various Centenary Lounge cafes at railway stations within the Midlands. David Corp from Amey TPT commented “We’ve been delighted to introduce Centenary Lounge to our clients GWR. Centenary Lounge have chosen GWR Taunton Station as their first location outside the Midlands and we know GWR passengers will be as excited as we are about this exciting new café offering for Taunton. We wish Aasia and her new team every success.”
