As part of an extensive investment programme across the rail network, Select Service Partner have recently introduced their Café Local brand onto the GWR estate. Replacing the Pumpkin brand on Exeter St. Davids, Plymouth and Truro stations, these stores now have a fresh new look with an enhanced retail offer stocking a range of hot and cold drinks, confectionery, news and snacks.  To reduce carbon, the cafés utilise new energy efficient refrigeration and LED lighting.

The investment programme will see the conversion of all existing Pumpkin units on GWR stations by December 2024 delivering a step change in the retail provision at these locations.

SSP are very pleased with the response to the wider Café Local rollout, both in terms of the exceptional growth in Reputation.com scores, the brand is averaging 4.9/5, as well as in the incredible sales growth across the first 6 units opened, which was 26% up on pre-conversion levels. They are planning to continue to improve the range and offer as they continue to deliver the new investment throughout the rest of 2023 and into 2024.
