Passengers using Hanborough station will have noticed a very welcome upgrade at their local station. Café de la Gare, who have traded previously from a mobile coffee unit at Hanborough have opened a new coffee shop kiosk within the waiting room building this January. The combined coffee shop /waiting room will mean customers can enjoy the shelter and warmth of the waiting room and purchase their favourite freshly brewed hot drinks, pastries, snacks and cakes.

Hugo Pickering, owner of Café de la Gare commented “We’ve traded for over two years from our mobile coffee van at Hanborough. We’re proud to have attracted a fantastic following from our loyal customers which has given us the confidence to invest in the new and upgraded café. Opening up the waiting room daily means all rail passengers can now enjoy some warmth during all the cold and wet weather and will hopefully be happy to support us by choosing one of our delicious coffees or teas and a locally made snack. We’ve secured a daily local delivery of freshly baked pastries which we’re delighted to offer to our customers”

Amey PC&I have worked closely with Cafe de la Gare for over 5 years on the North Cotswolds line. David Corp from Amey PC&I commented “We’re delighted to see Café de la Gare’s brand go from strength to strength. This highly successful Cotswolds business opened its first coffee shop at Charlbury Station back in 2021 and opened their mobile unit to trade from Hanborough in 2023. We’re so pleased with the upgrade at Hanborough, which really enhances facilities for passengers using the station. We’re in discussions with Café de la Gare to open at a third station on the North Cotswold Line currently, it’s a real success story”
Café de la Gare opened its doors at Hanborough station on 5th January and is open daily from 6am – 11.30am, Monday – Friday.
