Peak Hour Mobile Coffee Opportunity

Preston Station is situated on the edge of the town centre adjacent to the Fishergate Shopping Centre.
Train services are provided by Avanti West Coast to London Euston and Scotland and by First Transpennine Express and Northern Rail to regional and local destinations across the North and North West.
The latest figures available from the Office of Rail & Road (2018/19) estimate in excess of 4,646,000 annual passenger entries and exits at the station and a further 1,399,000 transferring passengers.


We are seeking a new licensee to operate a peak hour mobile coffee unit outside the Butler Street entrance opposite the Fishergate Centre and close to both the cycle hub and multi-storey car park.


The mobile coffee unit should be self sufficient as no utilities are provided. The exact location is to be agreed dependant on the dimensions of the unit.
The unit must be properly maintained and presented to the highest standards.
The unit must be removed from the station when not open for business.

Permitted Use

For the sale of high quality artisan coffee and other hot and cold non-alcoholic drinks together with ancillary pastries and confectionary.

Licence Details

A rolling licence subject to a mutual break on three months notice (and a Licensor break on 7 days notice in the event of an emergency).
The Licensee will be responsible for the Licensor's legal fees estimated at £800 plus VAT.
The Licensee will also bear the costs of a credit reference check (£75 plus VAT)

Licence Fees

The Licence Fee will initially be based on an agreed percentage of turnover and will be payable monthly in arrears.
There will be a review at the end of every year at which point a Minimum Licence Fee of 75% of the previous year’s total Licence Fee will be payable monthly in advance, with an Additional Licence Fee at the agreed percentage of turnover payable monthly in arrears where this exceeds the Minimum Licence Fee.
The Licensee will be required to pay a deposit of £120


The Licensee will be responsible for obtaining all necessary consents including a street traders licence if applicable.
The Licensee will need to commit to Minimum Opening Hours.
Insurance and Maintenance
The Licensee will need to provide details of their public liability insurance.
The Licensee will also need to provide maintenance certificates for both the vehicle and the catering equipment (particularly Gas safe and pressure vessel certificates).
